How do I add an entire folder of images to the Wallpaper Manager?

Open the Wallpaper Manager software and click on the down-arrow located on the "Add Pictures" button (at the bottom of the screen).

Click on the "Add Directory" selection at the bottom of the dropdown list, select the folder you want to add and all the supported images (BMP & JPG) will be added to the file list.

Why aren't GIF images supported?

At the time the software was written there was still a charge to be paid for the support of GIF images. Since that has expired you can expect to see GIF support in the near future. This pertains to version 4.0 of the Wallpaper Manager software program.

How do I know if new images are ready for me to download?

If you subscribe to the Image Delivery Service (and you should), there are multiple ways of knowing if you have new images to download. These methods assume that the "Accept all images automatically" option located on the Account Options dialog is not active:
  1. Locate, on the left hand side of the Wallpaper Manager main screen, the heading "Image Status". This area specifically informs you if there are any images waiting to be downloaded. You can click on the "Check Now" button to contact the server and update this area.

  2. The taskbar tray icon will change when images are waiting:
= No images waiting            = Images waiting

  3. On Windows XP & 2000 systems, a tooltip will appear from the taskbar tray icon and inform you how many images are waiting. Clicking on this tooltip will open up the preview window and allow you to download the images.

How do new images get displayed first?

We're not dumb. We know you want to see the new images you've received first so as images are received, they are all displayed before any older images are added to the rotation. Test it, you'll see. This is a great feature!

How can I see the same images at work that I see at home?

We make this simple. Open up the Wallpaper Manager and click on the "Settings" button, Account Options tab.

Next, check the box at the lower left that reads "Leave a copy of images on server". If there is a check, this is active, if not, check the box so you see a checkmark.

What this will do is leave a copy of images on the PictureShare.net servers so you can download the same pictures on multiple computers.

It is suggested that on one of the computers, this option is left un-checked so that eventually the images will be removed off the server but make sure that is the last computer that you will use to check for new images each day. Once an image has been removed from the PictureShare.net servers it can not be restored.

How do I send images to other PictureShare.net users using the Wallpaper Manager?

1. In the File List, locate the image(s) you want to send.
2. Right click on a selected file.
3. Select the option "Send to PictureShare.net User"
4. Enter the user(s) name in the dialog. Click OK to send.

The upload status will be displayed in the File List box (you may have to scroll to the right to see it).

You can also use the Image of the Day feature to send an image from your list to another PictureShare.net user. This is found in the Settings -> Image of the Day tab.

How can I find other PictureShare.net users?

At this time, you can not. It is dependant upon them to inform you they are an account member. This may change in the future but for now, protecting our account holders from spammers and other vermin is critical to us.

How do my friends send photos directly to my desktop?

This is the joy of having a PictureShare.net subscription. Here's how difficult it is:
First off, say your PictureShare.net account name is: jeff@pictureshare.net

1. Have your friends open Outlook or whatever email program they use, start a new message, address it to jeff@pictureshare.net, attach the image and hit the 'Send' button. No subject line needed, no text needed.

That's it. Our servers will process the image and you'll be notified via the Wallpaper Manager program when it's ready to download.

TIP: If you do add text to the body of an email, it will be attached to the image as a note.

How can I completely automate the process of receiving new pictures?

If you're using Wallpaper Manager so that a loved one who is a computer novice can receive images without having to do anything, then these instructions are for you
:

(This assumes that there is an active PictureShare.net Image Delivery Service account active and that the Account Name and Account Password information has been entered into the Settings/Account Options screen)
  1. Open the Wallpaper Manager program and click the "Settings" button.

  2. Under the "Program Options" tab, make sure the "Load at Startup" checkbox is checked.

  3. Under the "Account Options" tab, make sure the "Accept all images automatically" checkbox is checked.

That's it. When new images are received, they are automatically downloaded and immediately displayed as desktop wallpaper (at the next scheduled change).

What's a "private" image?

A private image is an image that you may not want everyone to see. Say you work late at the office and everyone leaves at 5pm. You can set up the Wallpaper Manager to display only images marked "private" from 5:15pm to 10:00pm (you designate the time).
  1. To do this, open the Wallpaper Manager, click on the "Settings" button and then on the "Program Options" tab.

  2. In the lower right, select the option to "Automatically Show Private Images" and select the 'From' and 'To' times. Click OK to close the "Options" dialog.

  3. In the File List on the main screen, right click on an image you wish to designate as "private", select "Set Ranking/Privacy" and then "Mark as a Private Image".

You will not see any type of indicator other than this context menu that shows the image as being private (you don't want anyone to know, right?!).

When the private mode period begins, private images will be shown until private mode ends.
