- More image formats supported, over 30 image types can now be used.
- Better Vista support.
- Logging has been integrated into the About box, under Settings -> About. You can also send log files directory to us.
- Rotating non-jpeg image types is now supported.
- Will now upload and download hi-res Ceiva images (1280x960) when they are available. You'll have to re-enter Ceiva account information, however.
- Improved method for how new images are shown before older images, when "Show new images before old ones" is checked on the Program Options tab.
- Rotating images on the preview screen is now possible.
- You can now select just the images you want to download or slideshow from the Preview screen.
- Now supports up to 10 monitors when multiple monitor support is enabled (instead of just 2).
- Added an "Auto-Rotate Directory" button under the Program Options tab. You can now select a directory to auto-rotate JPEG images that have orientation information embedded in them by the camera, without having to add them to the wallpaper list.
- Added a "Locate On Disk" option to right-click menu of main list.
- Lots of bug fixes.

PictureShare.net
v4.2.2 |
| |
- Lossless JPEG rotation. This can be activated with a CTRL + R, or right-clicking the image.
- Auto-Lossless JPEG rotation. As images are added to the list, they can be auto-rotated so they are right-side up. Not all images support this. Generally, more expensive digital cameras will embed orientation information in the image while cheaper ones don't. The orientation tag is necessary to auto-rotate an image, so this feature will not work with the majority of images.
- Improved handling of JPEG's with bad markers in them.

What's New with
PictureShare.net
v4.0 |
| |
- Shareware. The biggest change is that the entire program is now shareware. Unregistered versions will display a nag screen at startup and periodically display custom wallpaper asking the user to please register the software.
- Lifetime Subscription. The Image Delivery Service is now lifetime subscription that is included free when you register the program (instead of a yearly renewal fee).
- Watch Directories. You can now specify directories to watch for new files and the program will sync with those automatically. You can add/remove directories from the list by right-clicking on an image in the list or by right-clicking the system tray icon.
- Multiple Monitor Support. You can right-click on an image in the list and specify which monitor that image should be displayed on. Also, when randomly switching wallpaper, each monitor will receive its own distinct image.
- Wide-Screen Display Support. This is really an adjustment for images that have different aspect ratios than the display resolution. So, if you have a 1280x1024 display, that's a 1.25 aspect ratio (1280 divided by 1024 is 1.25). Most digital cameras produce images with a 1.33 aspect ratio, so when you display an image it will have bars on the top and bottom. We zoom the image so that it fills the whole screen. There is also an option to set the maximum amount you're willing to zoom in. Too much zoom and it starts looking bad. To enable this, check off the "Try and Fill the Screen" option in the Settings -> Program Options dialog.
- Expiration Dates. When you send an image to another PictureShare.net user, you can specify when that image should expire. This will allow you to send topical images for holidays, birthdays, etc.
- Cleaning Up the File List. Right-click on the image list and select "Remove Images That No Longer Exist" and you can clean up the list of images.
- Expanded Image of the Day Options. You can now specify which images should be excluded when picking an Image of the Day. Also, you can specify exactly who on your list of people to send an Image of the Day to can receive the image. For example, if I have two people I send an Image of the Day to, I can specify that an image should go to one of them but not the other.
- Downloading Images. Before, when downloading new images, you would have to sit through a progress dialog and wait until all the images were downloaded. This now happens in the background. If you are doing a "Download and Display" on a new image, it will still put up the progress bar.
- Hide the System Tray. You can now hide the system tray, although why anybody would want to is beyond me.
- Add In Background. When adding a directory, if it's a big directory and the progress bar pops up, you can click on the Background button to finish the add in the background. If the "Adding Files" text is blinking on the left side of the screen, you can click on it to bring up a dialog that lists all the directories queued up to be added.
- Support for Large Collections. We added support for very large image collections through a variety of features. The first is delayed loading of images at startup. When you start the program it will add images to the list in groups. This allows the program to be displayed right away so you don't have to wait for the entire list to be filled in. Add In Background and Watch Directories are a couple of other ways to support large image collections.
- Show the file name on the desktop for the current wallpaper image.
- Lower Memory Requirements. In order to support large collections, we've lowered our memory requirements considerably. For normal sized collections, it is quite reasonable.
- Single Click to Change Wallpaper. You can now single-click on the system tray icon to switch the wallpaper.
- Improved Slide Show Controls. You can use the arrow keys, page up/dn, and home/end to move around the images when doing a slideshow. Also, delete will remove an image from the list and Ctrl + Delete will remove it from the disk.
- Many, many bug fixes and optimizations.
